Facts from Spain - Home of 31 NEW YORKER Stores
The Kingdom of Spain is located on the Iberian Peninsula in southern Europe and consists of a large landmass of 505,990km². The country is a popular tourist destination, and is famous for the siesta and the hotly debated bullfights. With around 280 days of sunshine a year and 7.1 hours of sunshine per day, Spain is also one of the sunniest countries in Europe – so it’s no surprise that it is one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations!
Sandy baggage:
Every season the beach of the Platja de Palma on Mallorca decreases in size by about 82 tons. This is because each season the 30,000 daily visitors take roughly 30g of sand from the beach.  If you then apply this theory to the other popular beaches in Spain, there is a lot of Spanish sand distributed all over the world!

¿Hablas español?:
Spanish is the most widely spoken language in the world! Spain also has 7 official languages. What we call "Spanish" is in fact known as Castellano and refers to the wider spoken national language. The best known secondary languages are Catalán (Catalan), Gallego (Galician) and Vasco (Basque). In addition, Asturleonese, Aragonese and Aranese are also spoken in parts of Spain.

Late Christmas presents:
In Spain, Christmas presents are not given on 24th or 25th December, but on 6th January, making Spanish children the last in the world to receive their Christmas presents. This is because the gifts are not delivered by Santa Claus or Christ, but by the Three Kings.
