After debuting in 2010, the international finale of the Battle of the Year was held again in the French city of Montpellier on 19 November 2011...
Montpellier, the city on the French Mediterranean coast, spent two days as the site of the Battle of the Year 2011.
On the first day, the b-girls and b-boys who had travelled from all over the world to be there were already dancing 1 on 1 to compete for the breakdancing crown. The best individual dancer of the competition was determined at the end of an unbelievable show: Niek from the Netherlands!
The following day was the highlight of the Battle of the Year 2011- the big finale. This is where the world’s 20 best breakdancing crews competed against one another.
After a breathtaking finale, the Vagabonds (France) came out on top over Battle Born (USA). The dance crew thereby won the unofficial breakdancing world championship for the second time after a highly competitive battle. On top of it all, the French crew also received the prize for best show.
The crew members were able to bask in celebration of both titles on their home turf in front of 14,000 attendees.
New Yorker congratulates the winners on their fantastic success!
