Recovery is being released only 13 months after his last album Relapse, with which Eminem impressively crowned an unbelievably successful decade: his comeback album brought him two Grammys and made him the most successful musician of the years 2000-2009, which is why Nielsen SoundScan nominated him "Artist of the Decade". While Relapse only made it to #2 in this country, his last album shot to #1 in the US album charts and even ended up as the most successful rap album of the year. "My original plan was to bring out 'Relapse 2' last year as a sequel album," commented Eminem. "But because I was recording more and Eminem has sold more than 78 million albums all over the world. After his The Slim Shady LP from 1999 earned him quadruple platinum, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002), each of which sold around 10 million copies in the US alone, made it into the Top 5 of the most successful albums of the decade. The album Encore, which was nominated for a Grammy, made it to #1 in the US charts in 2004 and brought the outstanding rapper another four platinum awards.

The rap sensation of the year is official as of today: Eminem, the most successful musician of the last decade, is releasing his brand-new album Recovery on 18 June on Aftermath/ Interscope! The rap superstar is supported on his seventh studio album by various renowned artists with whom he has never worked before and who are certain to include DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da!
more tracks and collaborating with all of these new producers, the idea to release Part 2 started to make less and less sense. Instead of that, I wanted to come out with a completely new album. 'Recovery' has a completely different sound than 'Relapse' and I reckon this album definitively deserves to have its own name".
